Chicago's Goose Island was an industrial relic. An island in the South Bend of the river used as an industrial way-station through the 19th century and a neglected area for scattered migrant populations that practiced subsistence farming or worked in the various river industries.
It is currently going through a transformation via private and public investment to create a high-tech business hub and the project investigates re-use of former warehouse structures as a starting point for a mixed-use complex employing geothermal, solar and CLT strategies.
